3 Tips to Thrifting for College Students

It’s the summer before your very first semester in a new city, possibly a new side of the country or the world! This is your chance to start fresh and show the campus who you are. The best way is to express yourself through the first thing people see, your outfit! Take the opportunity to do this on a budget by shopping at your local thrift stores. Here are 3 tips to thrifting for college students:

Dip your toes in EVERY section

Walking into a thrift store can be overwhelming with the number of options and sections, but that’s the beauty of it! There are so many different routes you can take with these clothes, don’t feel the need to stay in just one section. Explore the store, and check out racks you wouldn’t normally look through.

Spice it up with some accessories

Accessories are essential to adding the finishing touch to an outfit. The accessory section of thrift stores is, in my opinion, the most valuable section. Here, you can find your belt, sunglasses, jewelry, and purse/handbag for the absolute lowest value.

Get some inspiration beforehand

As the title said, we’re living in the 21st century, use social media platforms (like Pinterest or Instagram) to find inspiration before your next thrifting hunt. This way you can get a better idea of what you are digging for rather than going in with no plan. Pro tip: don’t go in looking for an exact item, find items that have a similar aesthetic or fit.
