The First Item You Should Pack for College

It is essential for every student to have a first aid kit. Before arriving at college, I thought I had an above average immune system. I quickly realized that the change in location, lack of sleep, and shared living space means it’s easy to get sick in college. I would have missed out on a lot if it wasn’t for the first aid kit my mother with me to school.

Some of my first aid kit essentials include:

  • Ibuprofen
  • DayQuil and NyQuil
  • Cough Drops
  • Band-Aids
  • Neosporin
  • Vicks Vaporub
  • Melatonin
  • Kleenex
  • Thermometer

When you first get to college, you don’t want to miss out on new opportunities because you’re sick with the flu or have a headache. An instance when my first aid kit came in handy was in the first two weeks of being at school. I was trying to stay healthy, so I stocked my dorm room fridge with fruit. One day when cutting an apple, I sliced my finger and was beyond grateful my mother had prepared me for this situation with my first aid kit. Not only was the small kit indispensable for me, it also came in handy for my roommate as well. Without bringing a first aid kit, I would’ve missed out on a lot of new experiences, in addition to classes. So, it is essential, not only to your health but your grades, to think ahead and bring a first aid kit.
