Once you get to college you’re going to be moving around. A lot. You’re going to be walking to class, or biking, or hopping on the nearest 80 and bumping elbows with your fellow, tired classmates. That’s why I found that the most important thing I brought with me to school my freshman year was a pair of headphones.
You’re walking. You’re studying. You’re working out (hopefully). Being able to listen to music while doing those things is important. Okay, so maybe you are comfortable existing in quiet as you go about your life, but think of this: quiet is never guaranteed. When you’re walking to class there will be obnoxious construction. While you’re studying there will be someone laughing hysterically on their phone. And if you’re the kind of person who likes working out in silence? I don’t even know what to tell you. Seriously. Bring some headphones.
While you can get away with the cheap pair that probably came with your phone, consider purchasing something a little nicer. You’re going to be using them basically constantly until you graduate. Look into some sound proof options, so you can actually concentrate without outside noise to distract you. Or maybe a really comfortable pair, so that you aren’t taking them out/off every five minutes to massage your ears. And make sure that you have a system so that you know where they are at all times, that way, you aren’t late to class, because you spent ten minutes searching for your headphones for the walk.
Got your music handy? Good luck. You’ve got this.
