Hello there Freshman! I know it is super scary being a freshman anywhere, especially in college. Right now is a huge transition for you, and you might feel like you need to figure everything out right away. Well, let me tell you something. You don’t! Speaking from personal experience, college gives you the ability to try on different hats- meaning you can try out some really cool and different classes that you might really really like, and want to continue as a career. Let me give you a little bit of insight into who I am and why I say this. I am heading into my senior year at UW-Madison this fall with a double major in Textiles & Fashion and Theatre & Drama- it truly is a mouthful. But, when I came into college, I was only a Textiles & Fashion Major. After I took two theatre classes my Freshman year “just for fun”, I fell in love. I wanted to continue it throughout my college life and into my career, and no one could stop me. Now, as I prepared to graduate, I am looking at finding a career in costumes for theatre and film, and I couldn’t be more excited! So, my advice to you, is to find those classes that you think are “just for fun”, and take a chance on them! I bet you will find more than you expect! Good luck!!
