Netflix isn’t a Hobby, Try Something New

College is a great time and place to try something new. Everyone will tell you to join clubs, tryout for a team, or become a member of some sort of organization. While all of these suggestions are great and everyone should become involved, it is also important to take on smaller hobbies that can help improve your lifestyle.

I’m talking about the small things that you can take 30 minutes to an hour completing once a day, once a week, or even once a month. If you try one of these three things, you will be able to say that your hobbies include more than just taking naps and binge watching Netflix.

• Reading: Taking the time to read a book can be totally beneficial. I have found that putting down my phone an hour before I want to go to bed and taking the time to read a chapter or two of a book makes falling asleep a lot easier.

Libraries exist for a reason!
  • Cooking: You don’t have to be a culinary expert to be able to cook in college. Cooking from home will save money and meal prepping one day a week will save you the time it usually takes to cook dinner throughout the week.

  • Yoga: I’m not telling you that you need to go spend hundreds of dollars and get a yoga membership, but a couple of minutes of stretching in the morning or at night can help to relax your mind and body.

Working these three hobbies into your daily life will make college life easier and more enjoyable.
