College can be a pain. Yes, I know in my last post I said that college is totally do-able, and I stand by that, but it’s tiring sometimes. This past school year I easily put in fifteen-hour days: class or a combination of class and work from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm followed by four-to-six hours of homework. So yeah, it’s tiring. But thankfully, college is a time of learning—not only learning your coursework, but also life hacks. Some of my favorites are listed below:
- Life Hack #1: Build a decent GPA freshman year. Not gonna lie, this is gonna make me sound like a terrible student, but I promise it helped me through college and I even came out with a decent 3.7 GPA. So here it is: if you take your classes seriously and get good grades at the start of the semester and through midterms, finals week isn’t as stressful and you can ease up a bit. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll still wanna get good grades on finals, you just won’t be as stressed about it which probably makes for a better learning-mindset.
- Life Hack #2: Value and develop a love for your mental health, physical health, and your time. Eat healthily, practice self-care in your precious free time, and frequently work out to keep your mind clear.
- Life Hack #3: My absolute favorite—treat yo’self. Motivate yourself with incentives; you can watch your favorite show or hit up your go-to restaurant for a quick snack after you finish that paper.
Obviously, these life hacks don’t promise absolute success through college. There’ll be ups and downs and everyone’s experience will be a bit different. But show take care of yourself, show some love to your grades, and don’t be afraid to ask for adulting-help from parents or professors when you need it—they wanna see you succeed.
