The coolest thing about going to UW-Madison is that there’s something to do every night of the week. Aside from the numerous student orgs, parties around campus and dining options, the university offers some great options.
WUD Music is in charge of scheduling all the musical acts that the university hosts throughout the year. During the summer, all of the bands that WUD books play at the Memorial Union Terrace.
Every Wednesday night at Memorial Union, WUD Music hosts open mic night. Through September 14, the performances take place on the stage at the Union Terrace. As soon as the weather starts getting colder, open mic moves inside the Union to the Rathskeller.
Whether you sing, write poetry or want to tell a few jokes, open mic night offers the perfect forum to test out your material in front of a group of your peers.
If you want to go to watch the acts, or perform in the show, it’s a great Wednesday night activity to go out with friends and see the talent that our campus has to offer. Signup to be in the show starts at 7:45 pm, and performances go from 8-11 pm.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better concert venue than the Terrace. With cheese curds, a pitcher, the company of your best friends and Lake Mendota as a backdrop, there may not be a better place to watch a performance.
