Navigating Your Network

It might sound cliche, but these next four years of your life are going to fly by. Before you know it, you will be a post-grad facing the workforce. There are plenty of steps you can take to jump start your career and make this transition smoother. Here are a couple of my best tips.

Add a Business Element to Your Degree

You might know exactly what you want to major in, or you might have no idea at all. But in either case, I would recommend taking some business-related courses. UW has a variety of business certificates and classes that you can add to your degree. I am a Data Science major, but I have a certificate in Entrepreneurship that has broadened my horizons through entry-level courses in the business field. This creates a more marketable degree and will help boost your confidence in the workforce when searching for a job. I would encourage you to look into some of these paths on the UW-Madison Business School page!

Make a LinkedIn!

This is a super easy platform to join, and it makes a difference. You are going to meet so many new people, and one of them might provide a great business-related connection down the road. I was able to double the number of connections I had within my first Semester, so I would recommend starting college with an account!
