Going to college and starting a life on your own as a legal adult can be a shock. There are two things that you should know to be successful in this new endeavor as well as all of your endeavors.
First of all, life sucks. No one goes without some chaos and dark times. While some encounter more than others, it is important to know that life will never be perfect. Once you stop chasing perfection and accept that it’s okay to not be 100% successful in absolutely everything, you will find yourself enjoying more and getting through it more easily. College is said to be some of the best years of your life, and while true for many, there is also stress that comes with it. Through classes, jobs, relationships, exploring identities, there can be a lot of struggles that you should be mentally prepared for. This metaphorical helmet for what’s to come will help in the long run. Just being prepared puts you ahead of most because sh*t hits the fan for everyone at some point. It’s part of being an adult.
One thing that can help is confidence. I’m not talking about arrogance or thinking you’re the best at everything, but having confidence in yourself and what you’re doing is vital. This applies to everything; from job interviews to final exams, studies show that having self-confidence is linked to success in all areas of life. Learning this skill will open up doors to relationships and opportunities in all facets. Have confidence in yourself and your ideas and you are bound for success.
