The most important part of picking your college wardrobe is the weather! You don’t want to pack parkas to go to the University of Miami, and you don’t want swimsuits in Wisconsin! So, if you’re like me and not from the Midwest, listen up because I am going to give you tips on what you need to bring and, in addition, some local shops to keep you stylish around Madison.
Warmth and Wind
Bringing warm clothes with you is essential; even if you don’t use them right away, keep them in a box underneath your bed. Windbreaker jackets, fleece jackets, and heavy winter coats are all acceptable items. You can find jackets that will allow you to survive the -10 degree weather from The North Face, Arc’teryx, or Nike. Not only will you need warm jackets, but you will also need boots to walk through the snow! I highly recommend getting yourself a pair of Timberland boots.
Comfort and Relaxation
When you find yourself walking from class to class in the dead of winter, you will want comfortable clothes underneath the heavy jackets and boots. My favorite local store to go to is called August. They sell comfortable and very stylish sweatpants, hoodies, t-shirts, snd shorts from brands such as BrainDead, Pleasures, Carhartt WIP, and many more. You can find more information and updates on their Instagram @_augustshop.
