When I first went to the Student Org Fair during my freshman year, I put my email down for at least 20 clubs. I also signed up for a lot of credits, which put me under a lot of stress. I needed to learn how to balance, which is why I am sharing some tips with you!
1. You don’t have to do everything
I initially signed up for numerous clubs. Yet, I only ended up being active in a few. As a freshman, you are given so many different opportunities all at once, it may be hard to realize the time you have to embrace them. Yes, it goes by fast, but you do not have to rush and join 20 clubs or take 18 credits. You will feel so much better if you balance and focus on your passions.
2. Give yourself breaks
While you may want to do your homework all at once, cramming will not help you in the long run. It is important to take breaks and plan your schedule so you do not get burnt out. Constantly working will leave you tired, but putting in breaks will make you more efficient and energized.
3. Spend time with others
Adulting allows you to have more freedom – so use it! Let yourself have fun with your friends with all the work you do. This may seem obvious, but it is easy to get swept away with the amount of work college can bring. But in the end, it is so important to enjoy this time in your life and spend time with those you love.
