Ever heard of Patagonia? No, not the brand… the location! Close your eyes and imagine a place with every type of climate and landform possible, whether it be an icy, mountainous region of glaciers and penguins, or miles of grasslands with llamas and waterfalls. Patagonia, a region on the southernmost tip of South America, has all the wonders in the world.
During my high school winter break a few years back, my family and I spent two weeks venturing through Argentina and Chile – specifically the region of Patagonia. If you are someone who loves to hike and explore, this trip is worth looking into. I stood inches from a wild penguin, rode a horse up the side of a mountain, stood on the edge of a waterfall, and witnessed monstrous glaciers in stunningly blue lakes. Patagonia is beyond picturesque; it’s a place you have to see to believe.
Luckily, college winter break is around a month long. That gives you as much time as possible to see the countless landmarks of Patagonia. So, tell your family! College is the best time to explore and discover the world around you, and it may be the last few years before you are truly on your own as an adult! This trip will not only bring your family together, but it will make a memory to remember forever – I guarantee it!
