With nearly 900 student organizations on campus you’re bound to find one that fits your interests! From academic clubs to athletic clubs, I would definitely take advantage of the student organizations on campus. Not only is it a great way to meet new people but it also helps relieve stress and gets your mind off of school!
One club that I would recommend everyone try out is Wisconsin Hoofers, a premier outdoors club. With around 2,000 members, Hoofers is one of the largest organizations on campus and there’s a reason so many people get involved. There’s lots of different activities to do within Hoofers, such as sailing on Lake Mendota, climbing at Devil’s Lake, and even scuba diving!
Hoofers is a great organization to join because it gets you outside and pushes you to meet new people and go beyond your comfort zone. You can choose what activities you want to do and/or don’t want to participate in and there’s no pressure or judgement if you don’t want to participate. Hoofer’s is a fun, friendly environment where everyone wants to support one another and you’ll feel welcome there the minute you join!
You can join anytime but I would recommend joining as soon as possible so you don’t miss out on any of the fun adventures Hoofer’s has organized! You can find them at UW-Madison’s Student Organization Fair held at both the beginning of the fall and spring semester.
So, what are you waiting for? Go sign up and get outside! You won’t regret it!
