If you’re like me, and your graduating class in high school was less than 150, coming to Madison and instantly having 7,000 new classmates can be more than a little daunting. Thankfully, with a student body as big and diverse as the one at UW-Madison, there are multiple places for students to build a community and find their niche.
- If you’re interested in expanding you’re social network: Go through recruitment at UW. Even if you end up deciding that it’s not the right scene for you, the 4 days you spend rushing with 1.100 other girls will provide you with countless new faces to go out with in the first few weeks of the school year. Joining club sports teams or groups like WASB and Homecoming are also great ways to expand your friend group while also becoming involved in something that interests you.
- If you want something to add to your Resume: Go to the Student Org Fair in Sept. to find countless clubs related to your major, or join The Badger Herald or Daily Cardinal, where you can be a writer, photographer, or contribute to the business and social media teams.
- If you’re looking to make an impact at UW: Join the Wisconsin Union Directorate, where you can be part of the Film Committee, Publications Committee and the Wisconsin Hoofers, to name a few. The Wisconsin Union is a staple for any student at UW!
