The College Closet: Your guide to clothing swaps, donations and more!

Dorm closets are not as generous as one may think. In fact, it is quite difficult to find enough room for basic, every day clothing, let alone dresses, shoes, and other unique pieces for events that college brings. For this reason, participating in clothing swaps and donations on campus is a great way to clear your closet, and make room for new pieces. Below are some of the many resources I have found to get you started on your college closet journey!

Re-wear It is a Registered Student Organization (RSO) at UW-Madison that aims to provide students with a community that encourages conscious and sustainable consumerism. To do so, they hold various clothing swap events, donation drives, workshops, and more educational activities for their members. It is free to join and a great extracurricular to list on a resume!

YADA Fair Trade & Resale

YADA Fair Trade & Resale is a local Madison organization that aims to bring awareness to the problem of human trafficking, and provides help to victims in tangible ways. YADA organizes clothing donation bins across campus that are later sifted through and donated to women in need. This is not only a great way to get rid of old clothing, but also a great way to support members of the community.
