True Crime Fan? Watch This Series.

You might find yourself having a lot of extra time in your schedule as a freshman in college… I know I did. I had much more downtime in my first-year of college compared to my hectic senior year of high school, and there’s a good chance you might have the same. Binging Netflix was the perfect activity to rest my brain and unwind after difficult coursework and socializing.  If you are interested in crime stories, I have just the show for you.

Without giving away too many spoilers, “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” is a Netflix series that replicates the real-life murder of designer Gianni Versace by the serial killer, Andrew Cunanan. Andrew Cunanan was an American spree killer who murdered five people, his last of them being Versace. Cunanan was obsessed with Versace and shot him right outside of his mansion in Miami, Florida.

I wasn’t able to stop watching this show because of how realistic they made it seem. In the series, actor Darren Criss plays Andrew Cunanan and since watching, it has been hard for me to separate the actor from the real life sociopath (sorry Darren!). The series consists of a fantastic cast, great visuals, and a compelling storyline by playing out the actions of Cunanan.

This is no doubt a binge-worthy series. I finished both seasons in two days, and have rewatched it several times. Grab your favorite dorm-friendly snack and try not to get too disturbed by Cunanan’s actions throughout the episodes.
